We describe the design, characterization, and application of a simple, highly collimated, compact atomic/molecular beam source. This source is based on segmented capillary constructed using syringe needle. Angular width measurements free molecular flow simulations show that structure effectively suppresses atoms traveling in off-axis directions, resulting narrow Helium having 7 mrad (full half maximum). demonstrate an this by it for monitoring real-time changes surface coverage clean Cu(110) exposed to oxygen measuring specular reflectivity generated
